the noise is "unbearable" in my book.. I am taking the car in this saturaday. and see what "fix" they'll do at the dealer...
I will be calling corporate if the fix doesn't do anything..

I would wait for the service bulletin that should be out in a couple of weeks. Right now, there isn't much the dealer can do. Lexus is going to be changing the glass as well as adding insulation. The glass will be from the 460L.

The dealer told me the glass from the L is laminated. Where did you get your information? I've also heard it's thicker than the SWB...

They are the same ONLY IF you didn't take the Front and Rear Acoustic and Repellent Glass as an option on the LS460L. They are optional on the LWB & not available to the SWB.
I believe only the base package on the 460L doesn't come with these glasses.

Craig,

Are you waiting for the update from Lexus or are you already scheduled to get your glass changed?

BTW, the front side glass for the 460L is laminated annd the 460 glass is NOT laminated. It's on the brochure and on the Lexus website. On the Lexus website (http://www.lexus.com/models/LS/detai...fications.html) look under the section "safety" for both the 460 and 460L and you will find the info under "glass".

I am first on the list at me dealer to have my glass changed and insulation added. I'm also waiting for the transmission TSB to be done as well. So, I am
waiting for both of the service bulletins. I've had the field fix done and it didn't help much for the wind noise problem...

460lex,

Your PDF shows that the moonroof (sliding roof) feature is optional on the 460. However, the 460 comes standard with the moonroof. So perhaps your PDF doc is outdated?

I checked my link above and found the info. I don't know how else to show you. Sorry.

The information has just changed from the "safety" section to the "exterior features" section at this link... http://www.lexus.com/models/LS/detai...fications.html

For the LS460:
*Water-repellent windshield and front-door glass with UV reduction
*Exterior glass with UV reduction

For the LS460L:
*Water-repellent windshield and front-door glass with UV reduction
*Exterior glass with UV reduction
*Laminated side glass

I read "laminated side glass" to inlude laminated glass on both the front and rear doors. Hope this helps.

I spoke with the chief service manager today. they are going to repair three items to amend the wind noise. first- change the driver and passenger glass. second- change the belt molding around the window. third-- replace some screws inside the mirrors. apparently the head of the screws are too small to obscure the hole.. im waiting for the parts to become available. From another forum dated May 4th.

the roof MIGHT be optional, but you will never see a "base" ls460 or ls460l here in the US anyway, so it's pretty much useless. all LS will have moonroof

and i believe all ls460l have laminated glass, where ls460 doesn't. that's why the lwb are quieter. on the ls430 it makes huge difference. the laminated glass might be part of an option for the ls460l, but then again, all ls460l will pretty much have that option.

Are you paying for this to be done or is this an offical correction to the wind noise problem?
