Default GS 350 vs LS 460

I was thinking of getting a 350 GS a few months ago but decided to wait a while before getting a new ride.

I was thinking when the 08 LS comes out I might be able to get a good deal on an 07 LS 460.

What are the biggest differences between the GS 350 and the LS 460?

Also, what do you think I can get a LS 460 with the nav and without the backseat upgrade and mark lev.

well i can think if a lot of differences.

1)your looking at a V6 versus a V8; obviously power, performance
2)prestige/looks-layout of the dash
3)technology, such as 8 speeds, xm real time traffic, etc etc
4)size of the car
5)maintenance on that V8 will be more costly

right now, the car your looking for which is really a base LS460 with nav is around 63K. If you think you can get a good deal on them later, im guessing around 61K...not that big of a difference.

It sounds like you might be stretching your budget for the LS. You might consider the GS just so you are not cash strapped.

Never judge a mans wallet by his frugalness

I just made that up, hope it sounds good.

I had a 2006 GS300 when they first came out and now have the LS460. There is a huge difference in almost every aspect of the cars. Passenger leg room, luggage capacity, quality of workmanship and materials, 8 speed transmission, ride smoothness, etc. If you drive both of them and weren't overly concerned about the price difference I don't see how you would choose the GS.

The HP really isn't an issue for me as 300 HP for me is good enough. My current car has 305 which is plenty. I have a German POS and want to go back to Jap. I've had too many problems with my current car.

The LS looks like a car I could cruise in. Do the back seats fold down to create more room in the trunk?

No. But there is a pass through for long items.

I traded my '04 E Class for the LS and really do love it! I had tons of problems with the E and really don't miss it at all! The additional space is a huge plus for the LS!

Having owned a Jaguar XJS, there is a much higher quality build in the Lexus. I had computer problems galore with the Jaguar.

The GS 350 drives "sportier" but in all honesty, the LS is superior in pretty much evey way possible. Thus it being the proper flagship

Well, the LS460 rides pretty much like every other LS...flawless. But Lexus put a new GS out that rides like a BMW. It's fun to drive, but after awhile the ride will get to you. It has a far stiffer suspension and you can feel every bump in the road. I noticed that some people touched up on the features, so I wont repeat them. The LS460 is THE car to have man.

Tell me about this, my porsche is punishing. If you are going on a short trip on a sunny day it is fun and I like feeling the road but if you are going on a long trip or are tired or are not feeling well then it is brutal. The LS is so smooth!

The GS350 is a better-looking car (IMHO), has sportier handling, and gets better gas mileage (but not by much.)

The LS460 wins everything else.

The new GS460 might be make the contest a lot closer, depending on how many of those cool LS460 features make it into the new model.

I picked the GS350 because it was cheaper, looked sportier, and fits better into smallish parking spaces. I don't regret my decision - it just depends on your own criteria.

Not sure I agree with you in the looks department. Was introduced to Lexus through the GS line and still owe it some loyalty but the looks of the new LS, while recalling both the ES and the GS, has a refinement and finesse all its own. But at the end of the day, I admit beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
