Default RPM's

Wondering if anyone can post some of their RPMs at various speeds.

I was curious about this. Last weekend I was crusing at 60 or 70 and thought the RPMs were 1600. My friend has a Porcshe and tells me that is impossible. He revs at 2400 at that speed. I said a Porsche is not a Lexus. He should have bought a better car, lol.

Great comment on your part . The engine is turning about 1600 RPM at 65 MPH. You have to figure the eight speed transmission has at least a couple overdrive gears.

Yes, that is certainly possible. You should tell your friend to brush up on his knowledge of engines

Due to the 8 speed transmission, and also the flat torque curve, it spins at a relatively low RPM.

This isn't too uncommon for V8s, especially the domestics. Corvettes turn that sort of revs per mph, for example.

and especially with the 8 speed, i think that's the key to keep the rpm even lower for fuel economy. it's completely possible.

on my gs400 (before mods) and sc430, at around 60mph it's below 2000rpm as well. at 70 it's around 2000 maybe?

on high output small engine, high rev is very common

Well - I was out this evening and was on the hoghway. I went qucikly up to 60 and it rev'd high as I gave it gas. Once I stablized at 60 mph the RPMs went down to 1200.

1550 RPM at 60, courtesy Road and Track. That is where 27 mpg on the highway comes from, along with the low drag coefficient:

the ls430 01-03 has the same drivetrain as the sc430 02-05 (and also gs430 01-05), i think at around 60mph it's right about 1600 to 1800rpm probably? i know at 80mph it's right at around 2800rpm

not sure about the 6 speed

The 5-speed auto SC430 should be at around 1900 rpm at 60mph IIRC.
