No luck on blackout LS460 Headlights
My brother and I got bored today and went to Lexus delivery center located in Yang Mei, Taiwan. Took some pictures of the LS460L my brother is getting delivered on Tuesday. We decided to black out the rear headlight with paint and try to blackout the inside part of the headlight. I took the headlights and tail lights off and took the headlights to the oven to bake like other headlights but I found out that this set is near impossible to take apart. Since I don't want to damage the headlights, I decided to just paint the outer orange part black instead. I took some photos and will post it on here once it's done. I also decided to paint the chrome grill a matching black of my car. My advice to people trying to take this set of headlight apart.... don't bother trying...

Congratulations on the car, look forward to the pics...
The early reviews have all talked about how they put special attention to the headlight design this time...maybe it's also a theft deterrent?

Humm... Took a couple photos of my black LS460 and my brother's silver LS460L. His headlight was taken to the bodyshop even before he took delivery of the car... lol. Right now my car is getting all of the chrome trim painted black besides the chrome trim around the doors. Those pieces are double rivoted on by Lexus, so I decided to paint black everything besides that part...

Why did you want to black out everything?
And in your first post it sounds like you were dismantling the car before you even took possession?

Humm.... Lexus LS460 dismantling before I took possession......
Well, Since they had a few days to do paperworks at the Lexus/Toyota Yard before we can take delivery, my brother and I decided to let certified Lexus/Toyota technician to take out our headlights/brake lights. Usually they don't do things like that... but then again... I have "special" treatment . I'm not trying to rip the car apart but just want my LS460 to look the way I want it to. Here's a picture of the certified technician when he's working on my brake lights. Notice my brother's car on the right has brake lights taken off and my grill is sitting there on the left side of my car.

Unfortunately when I took out the brake calipers(they are made by Sumitomo), they only have lazer cut "brembo" stickers. I wanted "LEXUS" logo, but it'll take 2 days to custom make the logos I wanted (remember I'm in third world country Taiwan), so I just let them did it with "brembo" in the mean time since I didn't want my brand new car to be sitting on the lift for 2 days. I guess I'll have to redo it the way I wanted it when I get my 22" and bodykit.
