Default Loading music onto HDD

Anyone know how to do it? Before I pull out the manual to figure it out. I tried loading an MP3 CD and then bring up the HDD menu and it just sits there and there is no button on the screen that says to load the music to the HDD.

I have download plently of CDs. It did not recognize only 1 and it is the latest CD from Rod Stewart which I find funny since it is so new.

As far as MP3s. It should work the same way.

Are they burned to a disk, or are the files copied to the disk? That would make a difference. I am sure you must burn the songs to the disk.

In any event, if you put in a CD the player will read it and play it. There is a button in red that says "rec" If you want to record the CD, then press the button and it will ask if you want to record all the tracks, or just some. Very simple. It also has a fast record. I would say that a full CD would take around 7 or 8 minutes. I haven't timed it, but that is what it seems like.

Ah, that must be it. My CD was already in MP3 format with the files just copied to the root folder. I'll try it with plain old audio CD's.

This might not be the answer you want but refer to page 234 in your Navigation Owner Manual. Recording cd with mp3 files is not possible.

I was too lazy to look in the manual. Now I know. Thanks!

yeah that's what i don't like about the new system, pretty stupid imho. it will "rip" an audio cd, but not a mp3 cd, coz' of "piracy" issue. by all means i don't know how that makes sense

You have a choice of 2 levels of bitrate, according to brt3...

I don't care what bitrate it is, as long as it's 320Kbps or the money invested in the Mark Levinson speakers would just flow down the drain.

About how many CDs can fit on the HDD? I know an exact answer isn't possible, but for those of you guys that have done this, about how many would you say would fit? The reason I want to know is--it will determine exactly which CDs I will start putting on.

I believe it can rip at 128kbps or 256kbps only.

between 150-200 CD's in their entirety. You may want to record only your favorite tracks and then put them on shuffle and that would take a while to hear a repeat. For those that have MP3 players I am curious at the sound quality vs. the Hard drive method. In the limited listening time that I've had with the Mark Levinson I am more and more impressed. Try a DVD movie or DVD-A disc and you will be shocked at the sound quality...
