Default Winter Tires

I just ordered a set of winter tires for my wife's RX and wondered if any of you are putting them on the LS? Also, has anyone had the car in snow yet?

When I get my car next month I will be putting winter tires on them. Probably Blizzaks from Tire Rack. We have a lot of snow here and I have used my LS430 for four winters with Blizzaks with great results. I am sure the 460 will be even better in the winter with all the extra electronic stuff in it.

I ordered from the Tirerack for my 460 already. About $2200 mounted on nice rims ready for winter. Snows made a huge difference on my LS430 and I think with more power in the 460, they will be even more important for the 460 in winter.

I have always trusted the tirerack. Unfortunately, right now they only have one combo available based on the new bolt pattern on the 460. If you call them, they will recommend the same package I got.

Tirerack didn't have a picture available on the web-site. Do you have a photo or can you tell me the rim type so I can look it up?

You ahve to call them at their toll free number for the info because the car is so new. I believe it is the OZ anniversary rim.

Here is the info I received from tirerack:

"The least expensive wheel I have is a ASA JH8 silver or black finish wheel for $230.00 a wheel. Your car also came with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. If you continue to use that system on this wheel the Sensor and Valve Stem is an additional $114.50 per wheel. The snow tire for that wheel would be the Bridgestone Blizzak 245/45/19 LM25 for $228.00."

How did the snow tires on your LS430 effect the tire noise and ride quality?

There is definitely more tire noise with snows on, though it is not bad. Ride quality is about the same.

some picks from three weeks ago

dedicated snow tyres make a huge difference, they are well worth the money. there is more road noise but its not that bad especially considering the safty aspect of getting them

I have the OEM 18" wheels on my new LS460. What snow tires will fit this rim? I went to Tirerack.com and it seems there are no blizzaks that are the exact fit for this rim. I certainly wouldn't want to buy another set of rims just for the snow tires.

Any suggestions?

We are in New York and didn't have much snow last year. Everything was pretty good with the tires I got with the car.

If I had a place to store the snow tires and wheels I would probably get them.

So if it snows bad, I guess my baby will be staying home.

I hear ya. I have two rear wheel cars. I do have an Accord I can use to help. But, you never know if we get hit with a ton of snow this year or not. I'd like to be able to drive the LS from time to time even in the snow.
