I have two questions for you lucky folk who had the chance to see the LS460 in action at night.

1. What does the interior look like when driving at night? Does it have any ambient lighting in the footwells, door handles etc.

2. Does the auto parking system work at night?

 

I am sure based on the LS 430 experience, and being in the LS 460, that there are ambient lights in the footwells and door handles (the LS 430 has both of these). Rominl said he also saw the ambient lights in the door handles, so that for sure is confirmed.

Based on what the Lexus rep told me, the auto parking system works at night. He told me specifically that there are two sensors on the forward fenders, one on each side, that coordinate the auto parking system. Considering that the sonar Park Assist works in day or night, plus Intuitive Parking Assist with the backup camera works in day or night, I believe that the system should have no trouble with 24 hour conditions. With rain or snow, or items covering the sensor (the manual warns about this in the LS 430), the system's accuracy may decrease. However, overall, the system has been tried and tested on JDM models for some time now.

 

well he asked about when "driving", in that case i am not sure if the ambient light still works?

 

Well on the LS 430, when driving, the ambient (orange glow) lights are still on in the footwells, in the door handles, etc.

 

Don't forget the seatbelt clip too, in the ls430
For the gx, the ambient lighting stays on, so I'm sure the ls460 will too

 

Oh yeah, I forgot about the seatbelts in the LS 430, I think they are green...my guess is the 460 has them too.

the seat belt lights are on most lexus now i think, even my sc430 has it. don't think they are on my gs400 though, can't remember

but i have to say, ambient lights definitely give the car very very nice touches here and there

 

They will probably be on all the time unless some light settings are set to extreme, there have been some cases on the board where the footwell lights went off, and troubleshooting revealed that other settings (instrument panel?) were set to low or otherwise.

 

Haven't tried the auto park at night, but the backup camera is very clear, with no 'noise,' even in very dark conditions...

I have the 2006 IS and the backup camera at night is remarkable. I dont think its the reverse lights as much as it is just night mode maybe. Very easy to see whats behind the car at night.

 

Even my 1999 LS400 has lights on the seatbelt latches.

One question kind of related are the headlights on the new LS, I thought they were supposed to be LED? Is that going to be on the 600 only??? Pictures of the LS headlight with like 3-4 projectors looked to be like they were going to have an amazing output.

Regardless of whether they are LED or not, the 04+ LS was equipped with the best projectors in terms of output, maybe not color, but definately for output with its very wide width.

Anyway I am curious to what the ouput is like on the new 460, is it better than the 430's??? you think it would be, but very curious to see the cars, exterior lighting at night??? anybody with pics?
