Somewhat new to the Lexus world...just purchased an RX400h (not in yet) and was looking at the LS460. The configuration I would like is not currently available: SWB, Radar Cruise Control, ML/Nav/Traffic, Power close doors/trunks, Air suspension.

I realize that something like this configuration is available on the LWB model, but it doesn't look like you can get it on the SWB. My dealer said he'd check...

In your experience, does Lexus tend to change the options packages? If so, how long does it take (6 months, 9 months, 1 year)?

I find it interesting that other luxury cars (BMW, Audi, Mercedes, to name a few) are virtually completely configurable; you can get the car you want with the exact features you want, even though you will probably have to order from the factory, but Lexus doesn't seem to work that way.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think the air suspension will be available on the SWB, unfortunately. And your point is well-taken...the other luxury marques have more configurability. This is something we have found wanting in Lexus sales experiences. Some say it is because Lexus has more value pricing and to keep it this way they offer less flexibility in packaging.

However there is the special order process which you can try if you're willing to wait, although it sometimes doesn't always work--others on this board have more info than I on how that works.

i agree, i am doubtly about the AVS on the swb, at least not for this yr. don't count on package change during this coming yr, maybe they change it for next yr but not likely any time soon.

call it good or bad, but lexus definitely doesn't offer complete configurations to their cars. it does get to me at certain points (where i can't get exactly what i want), but that's how they save cost as well and to provide cars at a lower price to customers.

so overall is it a good thing? personally i say yes

Thanks very much for the info!

I can live without the Air Suspension, but I must have the radar cruise

I'll check with the dealer and see what he can do. I'll wait until after their intro party (oh, and I'd better give them a couple more days to recover from the hangovers ).
