Default Torque

380 horsepower / 370 ft-lb, the LS430 its 290 hp / 320 ft-lb. If you calculate should be like 380 horsepower / 419 ft-lb.

Anyone know why they took off like 50+ ft-lb of torque?

If they did this too the LS460, they for sure will take off a nice chunk from the LS600h.

I have noticed the new Lexus engines have more hp but the torque rating is not higher than the hp rating. Maybe due to the much higher compression?

Very good question.

LS600h will have a huge amount of torque thanks to it's electric motors. The 4.6L V8 is a new engine design where HP and torque are more balanced.

I hope the LS600h L has like 659 Nm (485 ft-lb), imagine how fun that will be.

Torque is more or less proportional to engine size and 370ft-lb is very impressive for a small V8(4.6L). The hp has shot up to 380 mainly thanks to direct injection and high rpm. Thats why hp is higher than tq.

i think that's the answer. lexus is still keeping the engine sizes pretty small imho, so that's why the tq numbers are not increasing as dramatic, whereas hp numbers there are more factors involved
