Why No Bomb-site?
I'm probably the only one .. but, I REALLY like "bomb-sites" (hood ornaments) on cars. If I ever bought another Mercedes, their highly visible, and prestige recognizable hood ornament, would (privately) be an influencing reason.
I Love looking out over a "bomb-site" and think it gives the front of ANY car a more stately look. I think a nice chrome "L" on the nose of the hood would add serious class .. like Rolls Royce, etc.
I have a DHS. It didn't come with the Cadillac hood ornament. Only the cheaper standard Deville did. But I made the dealer put one on for me. I drove a new DTS last week, which doesn't have it, and, looking out, the front seemed so short, stubby and "unstately."
(I know .. I'll be standing alone on this.)

I think someone on this site has an avatar pic that is a Lexus logo as a hood ornament...
...so far the closest thing in real life is the hood emblem on the ES.
I dunno, our old Mercedes hood ornament was stolen once, was rather annoying...
I do agree it gives a stately, prestigious look...along with a solid grille, etc.
But where did the term 'bomb-site' come from?

Design-wise, I think most Lexus vehicles were designed without the emblem, so adding it simply doesn't necessarily work. The New L-Finessed designs have large, gian logos on the grille, matching the other luxe makes out there. I think that a revised grille would be the least to go with the hood ornament.
