Exclamation New air suspension struts needed - cost scary

I recently noticed front end noise on my 2015 LS460L AWD (air suspension) and mentioned the issue to my Toyota/Lexus aftermarket shop when I had it in for 85,000 mile service - oil change, brake replacement front & rear, front & rear differential gear lube, coolant flush, brake flush, transfer case lube, transmission fluid drain & fill, coolant drain & replace, replace engine air filters & check front end noise. Seems that front struts need to be replaced - big expense! Front OEM air struts are $1,990/each! The estimated total expense of the job is $4,510, plus alignment. I fear that the rear air struts may well fail in the not-too-distant future with matching expense. Any suggestions for a recommended course of action would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for all help!

$520 for the labor? That’s pretty reasonable. Do they allow you to bring your own parts? You can get OEM air suspension for less than that and it till save you some money.

They get new OEM parts from Lexus dealer, as I understand. Where can new Lexus air struts be bought for less than I've been quoted?

I'm curious what type of noise you're hearing from the front end ? usually noise in that area is related to control arms upper or lower and sometimes ball joints, did your shop give you any details on why your front shocks are making the noise?
The brake flush/ transfer case and trans fluid replacement can cause problems with some repair shops, you must have been using this shop for awhile.

I just ordered all 4 OEM struts. My cost was about an average of 1000 each before shipping.

Try Triple Creations on Ebay. Ships out of Dubai. OEM. I've used them and they are legit.

Or do a Google search for Lexus OEM parts wholesale and type in your VIN and search for air suspension spring. I see prices around $1,250 or so. There are eBay listings from outside the US (Japan, Middle East, etc...). BUT, you will have to pay import duties on any shipment coming into the US, so add at least 15% (Japan) or do a Google search for other countries PLUS shipping cost! A $1,000 strut from UAE (Dubai) will be + 13.4% per the latest tariff rates.

I've been using Toy Car Care, Inc. here in S. Aurora, CO since the dealer provided warranty service on Lexus L/certified extended warranty and service plan expired one year after the used car purchase in Sept. 2018.

So, in summary for the original post, $1,990 per front air spring is WAY overpriced and @THE_CEO posted a good eBay Seller in Japan for decent prices - just remember to add 15% to any parts coming into the US from Japan. That Seller has the front L/R air springs for $1,988 (below link, but you must verify the correct air spring P/N's - F Sport or not - so do your research!). Free shipping on that eBay listing, plus 15% import tariff = $2,300 or $1,150/air spring.

Man it would be nice if one could just order bags only for these cars. I'm reminded how insane prices are for Lexus air cars
