A max spec LS is a costly car and it's practically the same as an S class and in some cases it's way more because you don't have easy access to OEM info.
Show me an LS460 that has had a $9k timing job cover before 50k miles, and also show me how that costs $9k, it doesn't. The valve covers on my S560 were 20 hours of labor. Come on. The LS460 is cheaper to maintain than an S Class, I've had them both and maintained them both

You inspired me. In the 50k miles I had my LS460L I spent $2,304.42 in maintenance. That includes new brakes and rotors front and rear, doesn't include tires.

In the 50k miles I had my 2020 S560 I spent $5,822.10 also including new pads and rotors front and rear.

That is just scheduled maintenance and brakes, the oil was also changed twice as often on the LS460L as it was on the S560 (5k miles vs 10k miles)

So yeah, not the same cost. If you factor in the $3k brake actuator covered under warranty on the LS460 that brings it to $5,304.42 and the $9,000 valve cover repair on the S560 covered under warranty that brings it to $14,822. So, 3 times the cost for the Mercedes and a LOT would have to go wrong with the LS460 to get me to the same cost, let alone more. I could literally have the valley plate leak and replace all the air struts and it still wouldn't cost more.

To put it in perspective just brakes on the S560 at an independent shop cost what it cost to maintain the LS460L changing the oil twice as much including also replacing the brakes on it.

Now, the S Class is the superior car...and Lexus doesn't make anything like the LS460 anymore but its just not accurate to say it costs the same or more to maintain it

And you've inspired me, Steve, to quit bitching about my LS460 and just fix the damn thing and drive it. You have also inspired me to never buy a German car LOL.

Thats the exact issue and price Lexus told one of my customers, and how they ended up with me instead.

German cars are really not a big deal, but certainly more expensive to maintain and repair.

That was just a dealer totally raping a customer. That is not a common repair at that age on an LS460 at all, the valve cover leak is very common on the M176.
