Thinking of getting an LS460

Currently own a '98 LS400... thinking of getting an LS460.... I noticed on an import site that some year models were listed as 'manual' & appeared to have paddle shifters... photo's were not clear to see for sure.... Does anyone know if or any years had paddle shifters ?.... Is this what they meant 'manual' ?

Does anyone know anything about buying from Japan using import sites ?

Are any year model 460's better than others ? .....

G'day mate.

Delete those sites from your history.

Carsales seems to be the best site to look at.

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/lex...b4ztT6sJfFhalo.

There is one dealer in Melbourne who seems to have the best offerings:

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...AG-AD-24864005

Some import sites have "lukewarm" reviews.

I am waiting for the "right" LS600h.

And one not in WA.

A 4 day drive.

F-Sport package comes with paddle shifters.

None are manual.

I think went the import site quoted 'manual' .. I think they meant with paddle shifters, which is exactly what I want... My '98 LS400 I drive like a manual... constantly using 5th, 4th & 3rd... I seriously considered a manual conversion but then I thoughgt a 460 with paddles is the next best thing.... I now know I'm after an F sport.

Yes I'd love to go for a 600 too but not the hybrid... I don't have the $$$ to afford anything to go wrong with the batteries or electronic... So far my 400 has been super reliable with only a few minor electrical hick-ups that I managed to fix myself...
Any idea what a battery back will set you back ?

Not cheap, especially if you replace with a genuine unit.

I have seen some quotes up to $8000 USD.

An Australian site in Belmore, Sydney:

Lexus Hybrid Battery Cost Breakdown:

1. Battery Replacement Cost:

  • OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Batteries: These are batteries supplied and typically cost more. The price for an OEM hybrid battery replacement for Lexus in Australia can range from AUD 1,750 to AUD 8,500, depending on the model.
  • Aftermarket Batteries: These are less expensive alternatives provided by third-party manufacturers. Prices for aftermarket hybrid batteries can range from AUD 2,000 to AUD 5,000.

2. Labor Costs:

  • Labor costs for replacing a hybrid battery in Australia can range from AUD 500 to AUD 2,000.
  • The actual cost will depend on the labor rates at the dealership or repair shop and the complexity of the installation.

3. Additional Costs:

  • Diagnostics: Some shops may charge additional fees for diagnosing the battery issue before replacement.
  • Recycling Fees: You might also have to pay a fee to properly dispose of the old battery.

Total Estimated Costs

  • Dealer Replacement (OEM Battery): AUD 5,000 to AUD 12,000
  • Independent Shop Replacement (Aftermarket Battery): AUD 2,500 to AUD 7,000

Model-Specific Costs

LS600 is not quoted directly, but it would be close to the above estimates.

I am planning on spending up to $20,000 for an LS600H, which will give me a lower distance travelled, probably around 100,000km.

Hopefully, the car condition should be quite good at that price, so a battery replacement is not needed for a long time.

What is your budget for a 460?

We love our LS460

We purchased a 2016 LS460. After extensive investigation, we found the years 2016 and 2017 to be the best for all the Lexus improvements over the years.
models without the adjustable suspension are more reliable.

Have a look at this 460 thread about Manual Shifting:

That's why the paddles mean diddley squat. I read a review on the ls500 that wondered why the paddles were even there. It's not a dual clutch tranny, but would be awesome if it had one!

I have a 5 speed tiptronic in my 2004 AWD Mitsubishi Magna(Diamante).

Considering it is 21 years old, and except for the total number of gears available these days in more modern cars(6/7/8/9 speeds) and the retail price point that it originally sold for compared to much more expensive cars, it is still a trick bit of kit.

I use it semi regularly.

It is very user friendly.

Lexus/Toyota has never made major changes in the last year or 2 of any model, the refresh happened in 2013 and the only significant change after that was the fullscreen nav unit. Models without the air suspension aren't more reliable they are less expensive to repair in that one particular system of the car, the 16 and 17 models are just the newest models you can get.

It's actually worded as changes not parts.

The new LS has over 3000 changes, including three world first, and no less than 15 Lexus first, features and technical innovations.
