Default O 2 sensors

Engine light went on my 2012 LS 460. Long story short, diagnosed as faulty o2 sensor. Mechanic said engine had to be removed, etc and recommended replacing all 4 sensors. Cost me an arm and a leg in labor alone. Should it have ?

If it was an AWD car then according to the book yes. Reality usually doesn't take nearly that long
