Default Body damage

Hi all, I have some existing body/rust damage on my 2009 LS SWB and I was wondering if those who are experienced might have suggestions on any cost effective ways to repair it. See pics below. I'd like to avoid spending $1k+ at a body shop but if that's the only option then so be it. I don't expect miracle solutions. This damage was there before I bought it so I don't know how it happened or why it looks that way. Thanks in advance.

Whatever you choose to do will only last for a couple of years max, I'd just get a spray bomb close to that colour and patch it up every few months or get rid of it.

That was previously repaired and poorly. Body filler has cracked allowing moisture in resulting in rust or maybe rust was covered up with body filler. What do you consider cost effective? That will cost about $200 to repair if you do all the work yourself.
