Hello All,

I have a 2011 LS 460 L and everything has been working fine until today. The trunk has had no issues opening or closing, and I have not stuffed it with anything. Today I go to open it with the remote and it opens about halfway, then stops and the locking actuator clicks about five times and stops. I was able to lift it up without any resistance all of the way, but the close button did nothing. I then closed it manually where it had no resistance and held it down till the actuator stopped in the lock position. I was able to go about my day and opened and closed the trunk maybe 2 more times where it did the same procedure until now it would not stay closed. It is now in a state where the trunk will not stay closed nor will it respond to any button presses to try and get the actuator to lock. Valet mode is not on in the trunk release is fine. There is no beeping or anything when I try to open the trunk, it just seems dead.

I am just confused on why it would only open halfway and the actuator kept clicking, it seems like both of them were acting up at the same time.

thank you for any help in advance

Welcome, there are many threads about this issue. Probably a failing trunk latch. Do a search to learn more. Suggest using genuine Lexus parts, even used is better than knock offs.

I replaced mine but was not an easy job as it requires the removal of other parts. If you are going to do the job yourself, stay with an OEM latch and new if you are going to keep the car. (Take lots of pics during process.) Otherwise, there are used Lexus and aftermarket parts on Ebay. If you have an OEM Lexus shop manual, you'll find a good procedure write-up in doing the repair. I believe the going Lexus dealer rate for doing the repair is about $3K.

wow $3k, almost as much as the famous brake actuator fix or the valley coolant leak repair.
