I'll preface this by saying this is our 10th Lexus and our 3rd LS, a 2010 LS460 Sport with ML and Navi.
Every other Lexus we've had we merely connect to the car via Bluetooth and we have telephone and audio. For reasons I don't understand, I only get phone calls and the Audio button won't stay active. I can try to switch on but the slider goes right back to off. See image.
Any ideas here? What am I missing? I presume (perhaps incorrectly) that there may be an additional step required?
My 2008 LS will only do phone call audio not music. The dealer told me its a hardware limitation and suggested I use the AUX jack with a bluetooth adapter. Same for my 2008 IS. Both have NAV and ML.

I have figured it out. You have to treat the phone and audio as separate devices.
Press SETUP then choose AUDIO.
From there you can choose SELECT PORTABLE PLAYER (your phone) and/or BLUETOOTH AUDIO SETTINGS. The playback is then accessed via the BT tab from the audio screen.
Expanding on what RRocket found and shared - there are slots for up to four (4) phones and
also for two (2) media devices. As mentioned, your phone becomes one of each type. Big
improvement from the 2009's and earlier that didn't have the BT media connection at all.
Hey guys I have a 2007 with the ML sound, same thing I was only able to connect my BT for phone calls, then I bought a great BT to AUX and it works amazing now, but wondering if the original stereo has BT audio for music on the 2007 model as well, does anyone know?
I am trying to get by with just BT till I can afford getting that GROM VL2 to use the carplay as well
