Default Trouble with Bluetooth audio

I have an HTC EVO, and have been unable to make a connection with my audio files....no problem with Bluetooth calls, though. Anyone have advice?

This may sound stupid but did you make the BT connection for the audio part? its separate from the phone calls.

Yeah, I did. Believe me nothing at this point sounds stupid. I'm pretty good with electronics, and just can't seem to get the audio to the vehicle. I have tried opening my music player, selecting a song, then selecting share VIA Bluetooth> car audio.....it says failed. Somewhere along the line something is going wrong. I just can't figure out another way to do it!

Have you tried hitting the Play button on the BT audio screen? The l> looking thing. Only for the first time, i had to hit the play button after the phone was already streaming, then it synced up. Now it automatically streams every time just by hitting play on the phone (Pandora)

It actually wasn't even activating the Bluetooth tab, but after a few searches, I found a suggestion to allow ftp transfer, tried registering my phone as an audio device...and voila! Taylor Swifts newest cd streaming right from my phone. I'm one happy gal!
