Hello everyone. I was hoping to tap into the knowledge of my fellow LS owners and get some advise on the purchase of Toyota Techstream. I have a 2011 LS460L pearl white with radar, air suspension and has 70k miles. I have read on this forum that version 12 is the software that works best for the LS460, also to avoid newer versions 13 and up. Is that true? what do you guys think about this? Is this also a pirated version of Techstream? https://www.ebay.com/itm/185852293300 ( MINI VCI TIS Techstream NEW version V18.00.008 TIS J2534 For Toyota Inspection Line Cable) Any advise is much appreciated, thanks!

18 and up are best and got most fixes. That listing is for pirated version + one of the worst cable clones possible for the task (xhorse mvci clone, super outdated).
I would invest in a better cable, preferably not from china and a real techstream subscription (available at techinfo.toyota.com).
Thanks Boykie. I think I would have to purchase the two day Professional diagnostic to do a brake flush. Can you recommend a cable brand to purchase? Just curious, do you think the pirated version would not function as well? I would just rather have something to use without time constraints as the learning curveI may take some time. Thanks
Re cable - do a forum search, various members had various success with clones. Just know for sure that xhorse one (usually transparent) is limited (no tpms etc).
Re software - as a tmc affiliate I can't in sane mind recommend anything illegal.
I have the Mini VCI XHorse Chinese cable (the clear one). If you get that one, use the cable with the firmware 2.0.4. The older version usually won't read live data. I had that one also and it quit reading live data on mine. What's odd is that the new cable with the updated firmware won't read live data on my wife's 15 GX, but it will on my 14 LS and 11 ES. It's still buggy but for the $60-80 I paid, it can usually do what I want. I think my software is a version 12-something. I had to watch a YouTube and read tons of forum threads to get it to work. I wound up having to use Virtual Box to run an emulator with Windows XP and install the software to it. Basically, it was a royal PITA and lots of hours spent getting it to finally work.
There is nothing very useful a person can do with the pirated version that can't be done with something like carista or in the vehicle settings that come with the car, it's mainly just fluff like c-best. Any updates to ecm's or anything that needs a file like when you blank an ecm has to come from Toyota unless you have a very smart Russian friend.
Has anyone used any of the bi-directional scanners like the Foxtul NT710 or Autel that I found on Amazon? They look interesting and I wonder whether they are worth the investment?
Thank everyone. I went to Techstream website. So that I understand this correctly, 1) I would purchase a subscription - standard or professional version (would the standard version do a brake flush?) 2) Does the subscription allow you to download their software and does it works with windows 10? Then I would need to purchase and OEM cable? Does the Techstream site explain which cable to buy? I went to the site but it was not clear if the standard version can do a brake flush, do tire sensors, clear codes, etc...

I dunno but I got the one from amaze and it’s the xhorse one and it works just fine. I got the older version, and it costed like $5 more than the newer versions. It seems to work great for models 2015 or before. It programmed tpms and does the customize settings and reads live data. I have a 2008 is250
Like Gerf said I would give carista a try. I bought mine back in the bata days so I own it. While I have Techstream V12 something and I use it on my 2006 SC430 I found that Carista did everything I wanted to on my 2010 LS460L. Now that being said I used it turn off the driving lights, adjust lock opening times, turn off the rear sun shade so it does not go down every time I put the car in reverse. Things that are not that hard to do.

You need Techstream Lite and a professional subscription to do what you want, a basic subscription gives you access to manuals etc. Just FYI
