Default "Click" when tapping brakes going forward only

As title says if you have a click when moving forward direction only you may want to check the front caliper pads to make sure all clips and shims are still there. I was coming home from a store and heard a faint "click" and was in fear my actuator is dying despite the fact I just did a fluid change and relearn on it a week ago.

After finishing the drive I found I could replicate the sound every time I got fully off the brakes and back on quickly both directions and after the wheels have moved at least 1/2 rotation but only in the forward direction. Never did it in reverse under any situation so I had my wife replicate conditions while I inspected. Found it to be the right side caliper upper shim is missing for some reason! I'll be putting a spare on tomorrow but I figured I would post this to help anyone who has a similar noise diag what is happening.

This is what they told me was the result of having "floating calipers" and the shims are clicking as the caliper moves ever so slightly. Dealer quoted me .5 hours to replace them to the tune of $90...I politely declined and have driven on them doing it for about 7500 miles with no issues other than the annoying click sounds that it makes!

Your dealer is giving you bad information, your car has fixed calipers.

So, if the information is bad, what do you suggest is wrong/is the solution?

Striker, can you please clarify what particular shim was missing? The pad's spring? Or...?

I'm not trying to be sarcastic, the solution is to find a shop that can fix simple brake problems if you're not able to diagnose and fix it yourself.
