Default Question about brakes

I have a 2003 GS300. When I apply the brake (stock brakes) after going a short distance (for example, backing out of a parking space), I hear a loud clunking noise. It sounds like the brakes are just engaging, but should it really be that loud? It seems like it only happens when I step on the brakes. There doesn't seem to be any problem in the actual performance of the brakes, there is only this noise. I'm going into Longo Lexus this friday for my 20k mile service, but I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this so I can go into the service department with some knowledge about it. Thanks for you help.

that sound is caliper moving with pads as well.. you have floating calipers so as pads wear you tend to get more movement when going from forward direction to reverse then forward again kinda like a click clunk right

Default that's it

So it 's normal then, right? Also, does anyone know the average life of an OEM brake pad? I'm also hearing a squeaking noise when I apply the brakes. Thanks

When you rotate your tires, have them inspect and report the pad thickness while they have the wheel off.
