Default AC Issue

I have a 2008 Lexus LS 460L, about 4 months ago I replaced the ac compressor with a second hand original. Recently it started to sometimes get less cool, and then suddenly it goes back to freezing cold. I got a mechanic to fit it by the way. Anyway, I took the car back to the mechanic and he says it is not the compressor issue. I then took it to another couple of garages for more opinions and they say it's the compressor. One of them said after I told him the symptoms and without checking it. Another checked it and said it's the compressor. The thing is I am not entirely convinced enough to get another compressor at this moment incase I still end up with the same problem. Anyone who has any experience and advice on this would be gladly appreciated. I know that there could be any number of reasons for this to happen, but everyone keeps telling me to change the compressor 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don't find it difficult to believe a used compressor worked for a few months and then dies. That's a risk with used parts over 10 years old. I also would believe several mechanics who stood over your car vs people on a forum who haven't. Have a reputable shop supply a new compressor and install it. There should be warranty then.

Most shops wouldn't install a used compressor period especially one that already had a compressor failure due to the crud that's spread throughout the system when that happens. Ideally the condenser/evaporator/dryer and expansion valve along with the lines would have to be cleaned or replaced and then the system evacuated properly and charged to pressure specs for whatever vehicle you have.
In your part of the world a condenser/cabin filter plugged with sand could cause problems, you probably don't have any warranty on the first repair so you'll have to go back to a shop if you didn't do this by yourself the first time.

As others said it can be the old part malfunctioning. But does your problem happens at low speeds /idle ?

I wouldn't necessarily go along with the mechanics who said it's the compressor, mainly because most of them here are not very good to say the least. Also, keep in mind that they all have their on agenda to supply and fit me a new one. It could be simply down to the last guy not checking the expansion valve, condenser etc, and I know he definitely didn't evacuate the system. Warranty 😂 you get 3 days here, which is basically no warranty 🙄

Obviously Gerf I went back straight away to the garage that did it, but he said it was an electrical problem and that the compressor was good, so he took no responsibility. Even if he agreed to fix it I wouldn't let him anywhere near it again as he has no clue what he was doing (unfortunate that I didn't know this beforehand).

What were the issues you were facing before you changed it ? Was it the same thing ? When the ac stops flowing cool air do you rev your engine and it gets back to normal ?

Check my thread. And sometimes when I rev it goes cold, otherwise it will become cold a few minutes later. When it's cold it blows really cold.
