Check glove box for valet switch. Lube the trunk lock. Is it possible the door locks or trunk lock had previously been changed? If so, the key won't match. Can you access trunk from rear arm rest? There's an emergency pull release for trunk inside trunk. Trunk mechanism may be broken, requiring replacement.

Yes checked valet button.
As you said looks like either mechanism is broken or lock has been changed before.
Behind the centre arm rest where there's usually a hole there's a unit/module with 4 bolts like 14mm. Haven't had chance to open
Are you sure the ls600 has the emergency pull release I thought that was just the ls460?
2008 600h has no backseat trunk pass through. I assume 2014 is the same. I posted some 12v points under the hood of my 08 600h a few years ago. If you search through my posts you might find it. There are some pictures. Nothing definitive as I was just probing around incase my 12v ever died.
There was another post a year ago or so where someone removed the left tail lamp to gain access to the trunk. By remove I believe they broke it to remove it. Reaching through the small hole for the taillight wire harness her arms were just long enough to reach the battery to apply a charger. I don't know if your 2014 battery is in the same position on the left rear of the trunk.
