Need to connect the Techstream v12,10.019 to the car using a mini-vci J2534 to do a relearn on abs actuator and bleeding 2007 ls460. Ordered the dongle from amazon and it came with a cd and a path to download the mini vci driver. Comp says full of viruses.
Tried looking all over the place for a download and cant find one that works or opens (usually it says page not available).

i am in process of finding a system that work. from whati have learned the vci and its program are either junk or viruses. i can let you know what i find out .
Thanks, Harlock. http://blog.obdii365.com/ is all over this topic, but none of the links for the drivers work or are available for download. I can access the folder link for the provided files that came with the dongle, but it looks like I need to sacrifice a old laptop in regards to any viruses and try to see if it will even install the driver. I installed a version of the driver and Techstream recognized the dongle, but still gave the same message no connection to VIM. I suspect that it was not the correct driver version.

They are all pretty much laden with viruses. They are hacks/cracks of expensive software. I have a cheap laptop from Goodwill that runs windows 7 and I use that. I never connect it to anything so if there is a virus it's no biggie.
I recall posts stating that the cable driver version should be most recent as well as 64 bit matching the PC and Windows. But those were close to a year ago. Keep in mind that pirated stuff tends to get blocked as time goes by.

When you first booted techstream were you able to pick your cable from setup/vim select ?
edit: never mind,I just read the instructions on that website and that selection is there. A buddy tried that route once and it semi worked for basic settings and reading codes but would always lose connection with the car, I do know this...if you aren't directed to select your cable in device manager it will never work. at least that's what happened to my friend
When I got the cable, I just plugged it in and could not see it under Set up VIM Select. Then we installed just a random driver for the cable and once we went back to the menu, now we can see the MRVCIPLus Aftermarket J2534 in the drop down menu. Tried to connect to car and it says no connection to VIM. Thats why we though we installed the incorrect driver for the cable or a version of the driver that does not work with the cable. There is just no free available download of this driver, or we cant find one. Thats why now we ordered a new cable that comes from the site we mentioned above with the driver. They said that it connect to Techstream and it works for Toyota, but dont know if for Lexus.
I just responded to a similar question in another post, so here it is below copied/pasted below. I believe I used this link for the instructions to set up mine. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/how...nutes.1034923/
Beware of the Chinese XHorse Techstream cables. I had the 1.41 version initially, but it wouldn't read live data most of the time. I upgraded to the 2.0.4 and paid around $85 for it. The problem is that it won't read live data on my wife's 15 GX but it will read it on my 11 ES. The software is very buggy and I spent hours trying to get it to work by reading forums and watching YouTube videos. I used an old laptop with a virtual machine to run Windows XP. Techstream is very slow as well. Overall, it's just a PITA to go the cheap route. It can and will do things for me, but, as you can see, it doesn't always have 100% functionality. I had a rough idle on the GX, and a friend of mine who's a tech, wanted me to show the live data with the fuel trims. I couldn't get it to pull up, so it was useless for that. I wound up cleaning the MAF and TB, which seemed to have solved the issue.
I used a "cheap" ($100) adapter for years: diagnostics, key programming etc on Camry, RAV4 and Prius. It worked just fine with Techstream and drivers I found online. I couldn't access transmission ECU though, it was the only function that didn't work. I still have it, however, I got a Drew Technologies adapter as well that supports basically everything.
My point is that there some budget adapters that will do almost everything necessary for a DIY mechanic.
Thanks for the link. I tried to follow the steps and once you double click the techstream inside the virtual box, its say aborted. Not sure how to get this going. Also the cable from Monkey Wrench Racing came without any drivers so I need to call them monday to see how to use their cable.

I've seen many members post success with low cost adapters in past years. But, things change, I see more posts about recently purchased adapters that are problematic.
