Default 12v starter panasonic battery

Can anybody tell me what the clip/2 wires on the corner of the 12 volt starter battery do. Reason being is that I had a dashboard message saying my 12volt battery was low. I rang the New Zealand automobile association with a view to replacing the battery.
The technician duly arrived, had a look then went back to his truck and got a replacement battery out.
He then started to undo the battery terminals and then saw a little clip thing on the upper corner of the battery, and said "no can do" special battery and the AA doesn't have a compatible battery.

My question is what are the 2 thin wires (1 red, 1 white) attaching to the battery. I thought I saw mention of a thermal sensor somewhere in google but now can't find reference to it anywhere.

Does anybody have any thoughts? All help appreciated.

Temp monitor. It can usually be removed from old battery by peeling off the sensors and sticking onto new battery.

Thanks guys, very much appreciated. And yes a LS600h.
As the wires appear to be coming out of a clip type thing attached to the battery can I just undo from the clip and simply use duct tape to tape to a new battery?

Sorry about all the questions but there's not too many LS600's in New Zealand.

Best regards

Raoul.

Just tape it down to the top of battery case. Check for codes afterwards. Not sure if there's an actual sensor molded into old battery or if it's in the clip. Makes more sense for it to be in the clip. The info I got was general for cars with thermal battery monitoring. There is a separate thread/category for hybrid models here, ask there.

Please post a photo of the clip so we can see if it has a sensor in it. That'd be very helpful.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...s-600hl-4.html With this post in mind, the connector doesn't have the thermistor in it. Gotta get the battery opened to remove sensor or buy a thermistor and join it to the connector. No none wants to spend double price for a battery if it can be avoided. Again, a photo of the current setup would be helpful.

Yes, good thread. Another point to consider is the venting hole and being able to vent the replacement battery. Not impossible at all, just need to be certain the new battery has the vent hole. I believe that are sometimes plugged but the plug can easily be removed.
