Smile Rear Dome Light Solution

So my rear dome light would not work in my new to me/used 2015 Lexus LS460L. I went to the dealer and they said the rear dome light assembly needed to be replaced. Over $500 For the assembly and 1.5 hours at some ungodly rate per hour bringing the total to something over $800. Found a replacement part on eBay for $50. Got it, but it had the incandescent bulb instead of the LED array. Returned that one. More internet research and someone said they fixed their dome light with a panel from Amazon. Searched Amazon and got an LED dome light repair kit for $12. Thought it was for one kit, but it was a 4 pack. Removed the LED panel from the Lexus dome light assembly, soldered in new fitting from the Amazon purchase. Plugged in new LED panel and it worked perfectly. $800 repair reduced to $3 plus about 20 min of time to get the new one soldered in. Shame on these dealers for not offering this kind of a fix.

Glad you found a cheap fix that works well. As you're new to Lexus, you've only seen the tip of the iceberg for cost of OEM parts and dealer labor. Before you buy aftermarket parts for any "under the hood" repairs, post here with your issue and concern for knowledgeable guidance. Many times aftermarket is a poor choice for Lexus repairs.
