US Spec LS460 in Europe
Hello there. Have 2017 LS460 RWD wit ML and navigation. Car was officially sold in US, so it is US spec. I might have to go to Europe for some time and considering shipping cost vs long term rent cost I would probably park my car in the 20' container and let it sail to Hamburg or Rotterdam. Lol. My question is, would it be possible to load in my car European maps? Is it just a matter of getting SD card from the local Lexus dealer and replacing it in the head unit or there's something else to it? Also, would my XM radio continue working there? Appreciate any info.
No. And no XM in our hemisphere, we have DAB. Your FM also won't work - we have 0.1mhz stepping on FM radio. Oh, and gas? Not at all cheap. Otherwise sounds like a rather outlandish adventure. I like those from time to time.

I know you can buy them at this site but whether they will work on your car over there is another matter. I think they're ruskies

Yes, You can load European maps. You can either buy a USB drive with the maps and attempt it yourself or take it to the dealership once there and they will do it.

really is that the way you want to go? To each his own but I personally find the location of the screen to be an issue, let alone for your year. For me my ultimate set up with be a big garmin screen set at above the dash level. You would get better use out of it in my opinion and the screens can get pretty big depending on what you like and you can stow it away when not in use. Lots of options with mounting as well. For me the flexibility, improvement in where it’s placed and better quality display and maps etc trumps the factory system

As long as your phone will work over there I'd just buy a good mount and use the phone instead.
Take a look at a company called proclipusa. They have two designs for the LS460 and neither will damage the interior.

It is actually not that bad. I did map update on my LS before. It was $210 for the Micro SD with the map, which you install in the radio head unit, or Lexus mechanic does it for you for extra $40 of labor. LOL
Yes, I used my phone for maps in Europe before and I don't like it, even though Google Maps worked pretty good. Just hate general idea of messing with the phones, charger cables, mounts and all kinds of aftermarket stuff in my cars. Most of the time my phone never leaves my pocket or goes in the armrest, away from my sight when I'm driving. The only thing I tolerate is my little, battery powered radar detector Escort Solo S2, which I bought years ago specifically for use in the rental cars.
It seems that how updates are done has changed several times over the years. On my 2013, it's well over $500. Glad newer models are reasonably priced.
