I went to the car wash and got the sprayer too close to my sensor and in a split second it now looks like this. I am guessing a cover came off, but I cannot find a picture anywhere online for anything other than the whole sensor. Of course whatever blew off immediately went into another universe where it will be waiting when I die. I could not find it.
Is there a part that I can get to fix this or must I replace the whole sensor? And there looks like an electrical connection in my picture. Did I blow off the sensing element of the sensor? Or just a cover? This is the driver side front middle one.
Part number appreciated.
Thanks.
Well, I got some answers. Miraculously I went back and I found the part way far away from where you would ever expect. I must have torn it off with the water stream.
So is there a way to reset the errors and the other parking assist sensors will work, or if one breaks none of them work? I tried putting it back in, but it wasn't happy.
When a sensor is replaced, a calibration is required. The dash message will then be gone. This requires specialized software. This one is shot. You'll need a new one and have it painted to match the car color. It's not a DIY for most. I suggest an independent shop that specializes in Japanese cars. The part number will likely be year specific. Don't buy a cheap Chinese part, you risk it not calibrating properly. OEM only.
It's great that you can ignore it. I'm guessing about $250 plus calibration fee. Personally, I use my backup camera all the time as far as parking assistance.

The backup camera still works fine, thankfully. I would also have to remove the bumper to replace the sensor, won't I? I'd pay someone to do that. I am wary of body parts never going back on exactly right.
The sensor does look like it's around $200.
It's just the proximity alarms that come on when I press the "P" button that don't work anymore.

Are you sure it requires calibration? The manual talks only about mechanical installation.

I'm only going by what other posts have said about replacing sensors. Perhaps 2008 doesn't. A different year might require it. Threads here are never wrong. LOL.
I would look into used sensors off Ebay or a site of your choice. The challenge will be to find the correct color.
There seem to quite a few on Ebay. Agreed about color match. There are 3 stage paint kits available in a set of aerosol cans. The OP may be OK with this option. From others, taking bumper cover off isn't too difficult.

Good idea on the used OEM ones, once I get the part number. I had trouble understanding which number it was on Bell Lexus' website. I messaged them for a quote on the sensor.
Not having to calibrate them would be a bonus.
I'll just be using an approximate guess if I need to paint the sensor.
If I am not mistaken, the paint thickness covering such sensors needs to be very accurate. Otherwise, it will not work properly. I think, it is one of reason it is so expensive.

Ok, then I will try for a used white or beige. I was wondering if the paint made a difference.
