I am the proud new owner of a 2013 LS460 AWD I was able to find with only 39,000 miles on it. Very exciting!
I noticed wind noise and went through the ENTIRE wind discussion here on the forums and completed the JMcraney fix for good measure, also found some other dry/loose moulding in the doors that I glued back down and used silicone on the rest. Happy to say no more sound is entering the vehicle.....but....
I now have a massive amount of wind noise on the A-pillar outside of the vehicle and it seems to be localized the the driver's side of the windshield. What else can I check or do to try and smooth this out? Sometimes it seems so strong that it almost pulls the car when I get a gust of wind. Any ideas would be appreciated thank you!
There was a glass claim on the records but I am unsure if it is front or rear glass. The front glass is thankfully still double-paned but that could be the issue I will pull the roof strip and take a look, thank you!
I pulled it yesterday and seems all the clips were broken so I put a spot of silicone on each one and clamped it overnight, will try a test drive today and see if there is any improvement.
It's not uncommon for clips to break when strips are removed. Lexus procedure calls for clip replacement any time windshield is replaced. This involves drilling out riveted parts as well. Hope the silicone works for you.
Well they do a good job installing glass, I've never had luck getting windshields replaced... something is always not as it was.
My 13 has the original w/shield and aside from some light sandblasting in a few spots it's good and I hope to never replace it.
This is the upper area where the roof meets the glass, it sits on a rubber seal and no adhesive is visible. I'd be willing to bet this area would be filled with black goo after replacement.
It's not as wide as it looks.

Just too many things to get screwed up on what seems like a simple job.
I agree with Gerf, even with minor wear, it's not something I'd elect to do. Especially in the US where insurance is reluctant to pay for OEM glass. I understand it was done by the previous owner in this case.
