The clock depends on the gps for the correct time, better the clock than a new nav system.
I changed the battery on my 13 this spring and the clock wouldn't change for DST, ended up disconnecting the battery twice which of course causes the nav to reboot and that solved it for me but losing time is a different issue.
There is a tsb for a software update for a power ecu but I can't seem to find it.
As you'd expect, the clock is a pretty simple system. Here's the description:
So, with nav, the head unit tells the clock what time to set every minute. There's wiring that runs from the head unit to the clock; a short or break in that wiring could cause the time to not be updated. The service manual lists allowable drift as only +/- 1 second per day.
I know you stated that after clearing codes the clock communication one didn't re-appear, but that would seem to fit this issue exactly. Also, how exactly is it inaccurate? Does it keep consistent time, but is off by a certain number of minutes, or does it drift a variable amount? Does this happen only when the car is shut off?

I have not been on here but, this has been driving me nuts.
Symptoms: Yesterday manually set clock around 5:30pm (set to auto set), during a 20-25 min trip, it lost about 2-3 min. Parked car last night around 6:30, got into it this morning at 7:05am, the clock was at 2:55.
In an hour trip to work today, manually resetting clock and NOT as auto sync. It lost about 9-10 min.
When trying to set it, hitting hour will only go about 15-20 min, so you need to keep hitting hour to set it at 15-20 min at a time.
It could be the radio. I did notice some issues. When I am listening to the AUX, I can see "Radio Off" when it's playing music sometimes. Time to time, I hit the menu button to be able to adjust the clock (full screen menu), and nothing happens, it does not always come up.
This started once the battery got low, and once replaced, I still see it time to time.
I do have the Android Auto/Apple Car play kit installed, that works perfectly so don't think it's that but, as it interfaces with the radio it might have a possible issue here. The problem is, I need to take apart the whole dash to disconnect this system for a test. It's easy a 2–4-hour project and if nothing changes, I need it back in there.
Once you have Wireless Android Auto or Apple Carplay, you could never go back...
Yeah, this is a tough one. To rule it out, if it was mine I'd probably disconnect the aftermarket unit temporarily to see if anything changes. I get that it's a pain though; I have a Grom unit installed and had to go back and forth several times to test things and wire them up how I wanted it.
It does sound like the radio is a good candidate. Ugh.
Ouch, I did a quick look around. $1,500+ used, like $5K new just for mine. Over $500 just fix them.... ouch.. I was thinking maybe grab one from a 2016 or higher..... oh, $2,300 and up.... At thse prices, I might have to live with it. Not sure I am willing to spend even $1k to fix a clock. The radio sound wise works fine...

Ugh, that is like a 4 hour test and living with out my AA kit for a week.
Maybe if I get some time this weekend...lol
