4th Generation LS 460 apple car play conversion
I also love BeatSonic. I had one in my previous GX and had it installed in my LS ('14). The S-connect is so awesome and BeatSonic customer service is beyond amazing. I absolutely love them and the product.
No - I did not get the chance to install the unit yet - been under water with other commitments and right now I am not even in the same country as my LS... I hope to find the time to do the installation in the coming weeks. Will give an update here, once I do.
I recently bought an LS 460 2017 and I am really missing the Android Auto/Apple Carplay feature for at least the navigation... Does anyone have experience with other brands like this one from Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005869788617.html? It is right now 52% off (for a total of 230 $). I have good experience with carefully selected products from Aliexpress so far so my fingers are itching to give this one a try...
Has anyone installed the GROM VLine2 Lex78VL2 in their 2013-2017 LS460. I've been researching and am thinking about pulling the trigger. It appears they have updated the hardware for faster processing. I've also found the installation videos and customer support to be very responsive so far. Any recommendations or insight is much appreciated. TY
For Vline: Meh...I had it on my LS, and now have the same unit installed in my GSF.
My experience is the unit is buggy ASF. At least once a week, the screen goes purple and I have to pull the plug to reset. It's not difficult, just ANNOYING.
If I could do it again, I would've went Beasonic ALL DAY. There's a reason why they're official partners w/ Lexus.

YO!
Modifications:
RR Racing CF intake shield.
RR racing air/oil separator.
RR racing coilovers
Apex I Resonated Midpipe
Greddy axleback (Removed. it's too loud for me being a DD.)
Stiffer front LCA poly bushings
Rear camber control arms
20" wheels
Compustar GPS tracking alarm w/ remote start
It's a cool car, and I get compliments ALL the time. Even from a grandma in her 70-80's gave me a thumbs up recenlty! BUT, for me, it's not a realistic DD. MPG is crap LOL, rides on the opposite spectrum of my old LS Fsport.
I'll prob end up getting a Tacoma or 4runner in a couple years, saying that the tariffs won't be stupid high! But I don't plan on ever selling my GSF

See I'm not worried about installation.
My main concern was performance such as:
- (MAIN ONE) Is there any latency or delay with the system?
- Any consistent problems it has.
- Does it even switch to the back up camera input upon putting it in reverse?
- Does the screen mirror option work well?
- is the phone quality the same?
Any thoughts from other members is appreciated.
Thank you.

Wireless CarPlay for Lexus NX RX IS ES GS RC CT LS LX LC UX – Road Top
No real lag, with wireless, once you start the car maybe 30-40 seconds and it kicks in. It's manually turned via holding a button and the Stereo in AUX mode. The screen changes when you back up the car and goes back when you go back in drive.
Why would you use screen mirroring? The point of Apple Carplay and Android auto is making it, so you do not need to touch your phone, so they have a custom interface that is done on your phone. Voice control via google or Siri
FOR EVERYONE HERE: in the video, they use the full screen, this is only like the 2016/2017, a 2013-2015 can only use like 2/3 of the screen.

I've installed a few of these "Kits" there are a few that work like this, I personally own a RoadTop brand one. It's about $220. It does wireless Android and Apple Carplay. It has HDMI in (so you can use your factory screen a monitor, I play video games on mine sometimes.). No real performance issues unless your phone is really old. These systems are run on your phone and the kit for the car is how to display them. Apple and Android make their own custom interface for cars and this is Apple Carplay and Android Auto

I also bought one of these to try and can't seem to get it working. I know the module works as:
1. I can see it displayed when I search for bluetooth and wifi
2. The LVDS cable is really sensitive and if pinched, will cut the signal. I since have fixed this and routed my box to sit near the cup holder
3. Can you share the DIP setting you used? I wasn't sure which one to try since the instruction booklet showed a few for 12.3" screens
I have a 2014 LS460 and feel as though I am close. The video signal is working (when the wire is not pinched) but can't seem to get it to load the android box screen. The box is powered on and sending something, since a dead box or no signal would leave the Lexus system to default back to OEM?
Thanks in advance.
Bumping this in case anyone buys one of the cheaper units vs say, Beatsonic (better support and easier to install) and needs help. There are some tricks to getting this thing working. I've since figured it out but it was a battle. The customer support is ok but there is a language barrier (of course) and replies are delayed given time zone differences.
+1 on the Beatsonic support. I emailed them some questions because part of the install was unclear, and they got back to me pretty fast and I was able to figure it out.
Once every ~3 months it will lose connection, and I need to unpair and repair the bluetooth on my phone, and then it works again. I like that it boots up immediately. It's been over a year since I installed Beatsonic on my 2014 LS 460 and I can't imagine not having it.
