Is there a difference in brightness between the drl and high beam? In the pictures the brightness looks the same.

I circled the areas for comparison.
I used a fixed exposure for all settings.
Would say its about 50 vs 100% brightness.

Well just to update this a bought a set of cheap Amazon 9005s to try Agptek. Put on one side to test and it's flickering rapid flashing on drl mode. Guess I'll have to spring for a harness.

Would check the polarity, since in series one would have max voltage and the other 0 if wrong way around.
I did notice that after plugging in the battery they enter this super low pwm mode and you have to cycle them once (off/drl/on).
When the battery voltage is low (techstream says the vBatt is below 14v.) on startup there can be a bit of flicker as well.

Default Replacement LEDs for LS430 DRL / High beam

I've read that basically the DRL is powered by 6v so if you swap in a 9005 LED bulb they will just flicker? I've done some searching for harnesses on Amazon, but most ppl say all the harness does is provide full power 12v to the DRLs at all times, so you are high beaming all the time.

Has anyone figured out a way to get LED DRL and High beams working at two brightness levels like OEM without full power on DRL?

Main reason is I feel the dingy yellow halogen DRL is the only thing dating our cars. I've pretty much swapped all other exterior bulbs to LED and it makes the car look much cleaner and more modern. The yellow halogen clashes with the white LED that I put in the parking lights.
These have been working well for me since Jan 2021:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/38047750578...mis&media=COPY
$38 after tax and with free shipping.

From the listing description:

This 9005 LED bulb will directly replace the stock 55W 9005 (aka HB3) halogen bulb on the high beam function as daytime running lights and the special DRL decoders will ensure the LED bulbs light up full power without malfunction issue nor flickering issue.
This nice "add-up" will get rid of the stock dull yellowish Daytime Running Light and bring your car an awesome HID matching look. This LED Daytime Running Light Setup will ONLY fit: 2006-2010 Lexus IS250, IS350 or IS-F2006-2012 Lexus GS300, GS350, GS450h or GS4602007-2012 Lexus ES3502004-2012 Lexus LS430 LS460 LS6002010-2012 Lexus RX350 RX400h2002-2010 Lexus SC4302010-2016 Lexus GX4602008-2012 Lexus LX5702006-2016 Toyota Corolla2009-2016 Toyota Venza2011-2016 Toyota Highlander2012-2017 Toyota Camry2012-2017 Toyota Prius (with DRL enabled version)

The brand is iJDMToy.

Are the Morimotos the way to go then? I bought some Auxito bulbs that claimed no flickering on most cars but I guess the LS isn't like most cars (borderline perfection) as they still flickered pretty bad in DRL mode. I found some Morimotos on a good sale, but they're for yellow bulbs. Not sure how I'd feel about yellow DRLs on a luxury type car like the LS, but my fogs do look great in yellow though.

These do work without flickering but keep your high beams on ALL of the time so you will be blinding everyone. Not really a good option. Someone needs to design an adapter that only lights up a portion of the LEDs in DRL mode and all LEDs in high beam mode. Wished I had read the description better. Have some cheap if anybody wants them.

I'm new here, been lurking and reading about upgrades since I bought my 2004 few weeks ago. Yellow DRL were ugly I wanted to upgrade them so I ended up buying VLED setup mentioned here. It was expensive, but it works great. DRL work as they should, dimmed at half voltage, and high beams are bright AF. No flickering. Since I was pulling the bumper to install, I also "upgraded" head lights and fogs with Diode Dynamic 6000k HID and matching LED for fogs. Everything turned out great. I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Link for DRL, make sure to enter the year and check which one, I think PFL uses a different setup.
