Default Just Bought a 03 LS430

After many years of trying to get a LS and being unsuccessful every time, I finally got one today am so excited and looking forward to making a clean and simple Cruiser. Thank God. As for now it has almost 125k miles, the mirrors don’t work properly and the tilt Motor needs to be replaced. and the VSC light is on. The good part is it’s pretty clean I love the color. I want to upgrade the stock tails to 04-06 LED tails… and get a roof wing for now.

I don’t think I will be Lowering it just need a set of wheels as I will be keeping the stock wheels.. I plan on keeping this car for a long time.

absolutely will do thinking about just taking to the dealer and let them service the car completely ? would they change the Pcv valve?

Thanks not sure what spec but it has heated seats in the rear. didn’t really check it out too much just took it for what it’s worth. I did see on YouTube that the VSC light also comes from vvti sensor ? or oil control valve?

I will go over the car tomorrow.

As for now I will keep the stock tails but did anyone upgrade the 03 stock tails or custom mod it, I like the distinguished look it adds character.

Is the vsc resettable with the paperclip trick? I triggered my light on my sc430 when I plugged in my obd reader and I got the reset tool from sc430mods to reset it. I'm not sure if you connect the same pins as on the SC.

I'm pretty sure you can't easily swap tail lights for the newer led style.
You could maybe swap the incandescent bulbs in your current lights for led to crisp things up a bit though as an easy upgrade

Welcome to the LS :-)
The 04-06 tail lights are a different shape to the 01-03 ones, so they cannot be easily swapped.
There are some aftermarket LED tail lights for the 01-03 shape, but no idea where you'll find them and they are sure to be $$$$.

I love the color too it just grows on you, it’s different rather than the navy blue black or grey. Silver spruce has been around for a while since the 92 Lexus SC originally I believe. Good luck on getting one hope you do soon.

Beautiful '03. Fellow '03 owner here too. The VSC light will come on any time the Check Engine light is also on since any engine issue will disable the VSC since that system relies on all engine functions to be working properly. Obviously the ECT switch will also manually disable it and show the light that it is off, but even if the switch is on but also your check engine light is on then that is why it is appearing. If you're taking it to the dealer they will connect it to their computer to see why and what codes are causing it. Could be something simple like a vacuum hose broken or disconnected or something else like an O2 sensor, MAF sensor, etc.

Before

I need to refinish these lights

After results but there seems to be fine scratches on the light and it irks me , how can I remove it just wet sand ? The scratches are visible and looks bad up close.

. I’ve used a mobile service for years that comes to the house, wet sands, and then sprays with a clear. Headlights looked new and warranties the job. I had him come back after 6 years of constant sun on my mom’s Honda and he did a do over for $35. My LS is still holding up for many years. Most kits are temporary.

I did mine 2 years ago with the 3M kit. Worked well and regular re-application of the final wipe has kept them clear.
Difficult to say with yours from those pics as the spray hides the scratches but if you can still see scratches then you need to keep sanding.
Mine took about an hour of sanding with the drill attachment. You also need to keep cleaning the surface to prevent further scratches and always make certain that the surface is wet.
If you get impatient you just introduce new scratches.
