Poor mans ashtray mod

I am jealous of the nice factory ashtray mod, but I’m not willing to part with $300. (Plus most sources show it is “unavailable”. So I did a cheap mod. Pry off the chrome trim piece. Voila. Now my fingers don’t get snagged on the burning ember tray. The little bucket is removable for dumping out tiny bits or for cleaning. And the black trim edge is smooth and unobtrusive. Just wipe off the years of soft drink goo you'll find under the chrome trim piece.

So simple, yet I never thought of this. Never pulled the trigger on the $300 replacement. I will give this a shot. Thanks!

I guess this is a good mod if you don’t smoke so you have more finger room for putting/removing stuff. Not sure if it helps if you do smoke though lol
