Default Ignition Switch Won't Turn

I was running some errands. At my last stop the ignition switch won't turn. The dash indicated once "key not detected." The smart key works otherwise. The doors unlock when I touch the doorhandles, etc. The ca is an 05 with smart key. I'm at loss about whet to do. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Did you insert the key fob into the ignition? If the key not detected message is displayed you should be able to start the car by plugging the key into the ignition. (no need to use the metal blade)

Yes, I tried inserting the smart key into the ignition, but no dice. When I get back to the car, I will try the wiggle the steering wheel trick and failing that the blade key.

The wiggle the steering wheel trick I picked up from another thread worked. Apologies for the false alarm.

Mine has done that to me a few times over the years. As stated and as you found out, wiggle the wheel and it will self correct.

I had a similar issue that turned out to be the Smart Key disable button that had been pushed...it's under the steering wheel.
