If you have the ML system you should keep your stock sub and just refoam it if you need to.

No, you cannot. The Pioneer sub is a dual voice coil with 2 ohms of resistance. The ML sub has 16 ohms of resistance. It either won't work at all or it'll fry your amplifier, or both.

I think the sub on LS is 8 inch. Here are a few subs available on line that may work instead of paying crazy price for new ML sub - some of them may require a little custom mod and mounting but its usually not too difficult to get a new sub mounted. The Goldwood has 91 db sensitivity so it would be a little louder in the mix than the Dayton which is 85 db. On the other hand the Dayton is a little better qaulity speaker. My guess is that either one would be fine as a reasonable replacement speaker for a 15+ year old car. The OEM ML sub is not worth the extra cost.

I have the Dayton in mine and it's a good match for the ML system once broken in.
At first you may have to turn the bass down one notch but after a few weeks of use I turned mine back up to the midpoint, so bass/mid/treble are all in the middle.
