Just bought this 2004 LS 430 ML. Wondering if anyone knows what this module on the trunk is. It also looks like it's got aftermarket wiring for a sound system in the trunk, can I just throw an amp and a sub in the trunk using these connections or will it cause issues with the Mark Levinson sound configuration? Sound system is currently working fine even with the previous owner removing whatever was in the trunk. I don't want any trunk rattle or mirror vibration, was thinking 10" sub but I really don't know much about car audio.

Get under the hood right away and make sure that battery cable is not live, that is has been disconnected from the battery.

Whether or not you can drop an amp and sub in and have them work depends on if everything is still installed. If they were running an car audio integration module (Grom, BT45TOY, FM modulator) with the OEM system and did not uninstall it then you should be good to go. If they had an aftermarket head unit in there and took it with them the wiring might not be connected to anything.

Thanks for the quick tips. The black cable was still live and connected to the battery. The CD player wouldn't read the one disc I put in it. System is completely OEM and no aftermarket head unit or GROM/BT45. All of the speakers work except for the Mark Levinson sub, disconnected in favor of the aftermarket sub that was previously in here I assume.

They probobly have a Line Output Converter (LOC) hooked up to the stock subwoofer wires and then to those RCAs. Pull the trunk lining out and verify the connections or hook up a sub and amp and see if it works.

You should be able to use a multimeter to verify output from the RCAs too actually.
