2005 LS 430 Check S/T lock. Help please
I was just in my uncle’s 2005 LS430. I had just turned the car to the ON position to roll down the windows. The windows rolled down and the stereo turned on. Everything worked fine. Then I turned off the car and went to reposition the steering wheel to straighten it. I used moderate force to turn the wheel a little bit and all of a sudden it locked up and I can’t move the steering wheel anymore and the dash cluster now shows 2 things: “check s/t lock” and an icon(a red triangle with an exclamation point inside it). Now, when I put the key in the ignition, I cannot turn the key at all, not even when I attempt to jiggle the steering wheel back and forth.
I can’t do too much tinkering right now because I’m at work, but does anyone know of a possible fix for this so I can drive home tonight? Please???

You need to be more violent with the steering wheel. Mine did this a few times and I needed to pull the steering wheel quite hard to be able to get the ignition switch to rotate.
You will probably need to pull in the same direction as you were when it locked up, but sometimes it needs some back-and-forth.
I've now learned not to rotate the steering wheel after turning the ignition off. :-)
