Ignition woudnt turn on.
Whats up everyone, had a little scare at the store yesterday. I parked the car (2006 ls 430) and when i came back out the smart key ignition wouldn't t turn passed the off position. The key wouldn't depress the little whit piece of plastic in there either. After trying a couple times a message came up on the dash that said "check smart key". Finally after trying about ten times i was able to turn the car on. Does anyone know what the issue might have been? I would hate to get stranded somewhere. Thanks in advance. The key has a new battery as well.

Was your steering wheel turned hard left or right binding the steering wheel lock? I have had this happen numerous times. Simply turn the steering wheel slightly to take the pressure off of the steering wheel lock and turn the ignition. That would be my only guess...

, ha ha thanks man ill have to try and re create the situation, i was in a hurry and didnt pay attention. I haven't ever set the steering wheel lock in this car. Thanks for the help.

Ok so i locked the steering wheel and that's definitely not what happend. With the wheel locked the ignition was firm and not turning at all. The other day it was turning slightly but i could definitely tell something was wrong. Its been trouble free ever since though so not sure what to think.
