Can i put a 2001 lexus ls430 transmission on a 2005 lexus ls430

Welcome. You didn't post in the LS forum so I'll move your thread there.

The 2001 LS transmission is a 5 speed and the 2005 is a 6 speed, so the transmission is different and I suspect the ECU that controls it is as well. It'll probably fit fine in the same space and bolt up. In terms of working, don't know.

The 2001-2003 cars use the A650E and the 2004-2006 use the A761E and there is no way to get them to work in the opposite car unless you are willing to swap over the entire harness and all ECUs and also the instrument cluster. There will likely also be issues with VSC and ABS and in other cars the trans doesn't physically fit the tunnel but I don't think the LS has this issue.

You can more easily physically get it to bolt up than to get everything to talk to each other properly. Some people have disabled the immobilizer and spliced the A650s harness to get it to talk to the 761 but many features no longer work correctly on the car
