Default wiper problem with intermittent wipers

so searching brought up a lot of problems with rain sensor problems, which i do not think is my problem.

as i was driving into work, i had my wipers on intermittent/auto with the speed/frequency on the longest setting. so everything seemed to be working fine but all of a sudden my wipers stopped in the middle of the windshield. they didn't move until i pulled the wiper stalk to regular slow speed. then they started working on that setting. this continued 2 other times. not sure what i can check. i assume the motor is fine since it's working fine on the regular speed.

can anyone point me in any direction to try to clear up my problem?

Haven't ever seen or read of that specific problem on the LS430 forum. Maybe the intermittent wiper relay or the wiper switch itself is intermittently failing. Other Lexus models use the same basic controls, maybe someone has run into this issue on another model. Some other Lexus model previous post suggest replacing both wiper relays to correct this issue. They also suggest buying less expensive relays online at places like Rock Auto.

Have not heard of that. But when I was totally new to my car in 2016, I decided to push the rain sensor and was surprised that the wipers activated. Why because my other car has an eye and pushing on the sensor doesn't affect it. Unless I am wrong, and I often am, there is no intermittent on my car where I can set the delay in seconds, just rain sensing and sensitivity, low, high. Meaning, other cars which has a rain sensor, can choose sensor, or set the actual interval. It's particularly annoying when the glass is fogged up in the early AM. There is no intermittent as that puts the wipers on low, and low is low. So the choice is off, or low. Is everything totally normal on low and high? And off?

that you guys. i guess i will try a wiper relay since that is the least expensive thing to replace as of now.

yes, everything else works fine with the wipers (off/low/high) . just when it is on the auto setting.
