Default Would you do it? Ls430 to M45?

I worked at an Infiniti dealer right when the G37 coupes came out. My absolute favorite cars that came in for service were the M45 sports.

2006 years, I found one for 5k with 151k on it, found another for 8500 with only 60k on it. They are priced right for me. I feel like if I get rid of my LS430 Id be shooting myself in the foot as far as reliability is concerned. Im POSITIVE the infiniti has its own issues that drive people crazy. My LS430 has the issues of the rear hat rack rattling and a clunking in the front suspension thats noticeable only in the cold months, vibration at 65mph that may take ~$500 in parts (its tolerable its just annoying too). Other than that its great, The m45, I just love the look of the sports and they also have some nice features. The m35's have the same engine as the g35 which are known to be very reliable.

Heres the low mileage one... https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...5691/overview/

I dunno, its a tough call because the ls430 is such a boat. I really love the car some days, love the engine. I have 5k into my ls430 with 181k on it (bought with 160k for $5000), and I may be able to sell it for 4500-5000. Id really like a CT200h but that wont happen because I WILL NOT spend money on cars that will depreciate 5-10k in the next 4-5 years.

Thoughts.

I owned 2 G35s (04 Coupe, 06 4DR sedan) for 10 years each. Both were purchased new. Although the M35/M45 were good cars when new, and are fun to drive and do handle fairly well, there is no comparison in materials and fit and finish between the M and the LS430. . In additon, be prepared for a lot more rattles than you have ever experienced in the LS430. They were good cars for Infiniti when new, but they don't age as well as our LS430.. Be prepared to find pieces of trim that fall off or possibly have fallen off already. Cheap plastics and interior trim. The M35 has a much more compliant ride than the M45 which has the larger wheels and does ride somewhat harsher. Like the LS430 and possibly more so, they are very thirsty cars.......especially the M45. The engines and transmissions were quite reliable.

Thanks, yea that's what I'm afraid of. The ones I drove typically had under 30k miles but also were only a few years old. Tough call.

It sounds like you know your car and know what it needs. $500 doesn't bad. Dealing with problem at hand maybe better than buying an unknown problem.

I test drove M45 when I bough my LS430 11 years ago. I wasn't impressed by interior. It didn't really look like a Luxury car. Exterior is nice though.

Got it, well I will stick with the ls430 for now and probably do a drivers side front a arm and a strut mount and see where that gets me. I did find some CT200h's for sale for 8-10k with 120k or so on them. Of course the only one near me is $13000 with 113k miles ( I hate this city). Ill just wait until they get a little more miles on them and maybe my next vehicle will be a ct200h. My dad has a camry hybrid and that thing just keeps going. The ct200h getting 43 city and 40 highway would be a game changer for me, Everything I own gets 15-20mpg city.

I -have a soft spot for the M45 as well, and they are quite rare (at least around here). If you want to own a car that very few others have

An M56x or Q70x would be quite a worthy move if you are willing to put up with extremely rare parts and overall cheaper build and rust issues....and more stuff breaking. It is fast though so it does have that over the 430 and 460

Yea, and the 400+ Hp on the M56x isn't too shabby. I guess it's comparable to the GS-F , Which I absolutely love as well

Any 8 cylinder M series, either M45 or Q70 will be relatively rare. The Infiniti line up is quite old now and needs a major refresh in the model line. The M/Q70 series was actually the most reliable of the entire line, ever since they stopped production of the G35/G37. I really think the entire brand has gone down hill. Since I had both an Infiniti (G35) and Lexus (LS430) to compare at the same time......there is no comparison in quality. The Lexus is far superior. Unless you are shopping for a relatively newer Q70 (which will cost $$$$$) I'd stay away.

Those m56's are NICE, but I dont like the looks of them over the m45. Definitely cant deal with rust issues where I live. Thats one thing I love about the ls430, all that nice aluminum underneath it!

Think Im just suffering from winter daily driver syndrome LOL. Once spring/summer comes my high 11 second Trans Am will be out again, and my Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo will be on the road soon once I get tires mounted, then the ls430 will just sit and I can do the maintenance on it. Its nothing short of amazing going from a 11 second trans am with a cam that shakes the entire car and a loud exhaust to the LS430 cocoon.

Oh yeah it's insane going from the LS to anything with real power, in my car whenever I start the 408 it's momentarily concerning due to the massive roar and all the mirrors shaking. You think something is broken and everything is so loud and harsh vs the Lexus. Going the other way is also funny since you think the car failed to start and everything is so calm and quiet I sometimes fell like I've gone deaf and numb.
