Does anyone know what is required to change the front door side glass on a 2002 base model to laminated glass? Are different door panels and regulators required? Also does anyone have a line on original Lexus side glass?
I am looking to add this feature to my car since my deal for a CL ended up with the dealer not moving on price to a reasonable place and the car was too externally and internally scuffed for my liking. Mechanically great if not perfect for the age but the cosmetics kept nagging at me and after staring at my car for a while I can't get over the imperfections when they sit side by side.
The only feature that really really stood out or me was the laminated glass, I want to make that happen for my car.

Try me. I doubt it's harder than dropping the subframe out and resealing the oil pan or many other jobs I've done on other vehicles. If it's easier than a frame off restoration and hand rebuild of all driveline parts I think I can do it.
This is a feature I really want and I'll have glass cut if needed for it. I've had worse made for me one off.

Have no doubt you can do it.... But, when you take into account the value of your time and include the amount of money you would have made doing work you could get get paid to do with all the time you would use to change your glass, maybe reconsider the Tampa car (when the dealer calls you and says it will accept your offer after all)?
All the parts that come in contact with the glass, regulator mechanism etc., only show one part number. If the ancillary parts were double or single pane specific there would be part numbers for both.

Now that is what I wanted to hear. Do you have the glass part numbers?
Lexus lumps them all together, as I mentioned earlier. For example the suspension diagram will display both air and regular struts. The door diagram shows one pane 68101(RH) and 68102(LH) both of which have 2 part numbers. One is $453.38 and the other is $655.40.
