So if a person is just going to do 2/30 going forward, red is just fine and if it has more benefits over pink why not.

The phenomenon or effect of the pink 10 yr. interval is our LS430s come used with zero coolant in the reservoir and zero that can be seen in the radiator. Even a dealer serviced car never got it touched. Boy did I freak out day 2 of owning my car in 2016, when I saw zero coolant with my eyes anywhere, never seen such a thing.
From what I was told by a few techs, Toyota Red coolant was mainly used in the older cars prior to the LS430. They use pink on all of the newer cars. I personally used Red coolant on my SC300, ES300, my sister’s LS430, and stepdad’s GX470. I was told that old cars like my SC strictly use the Red coolant. My parts manager told me to stick with Red since it can be diluted.

I don’t think the coolant gets flushed very often on these cars. The main reason I changed my coolant out on my cars was due to me replacing the radiator or an engine swap. The Toyota stuff is supposed to last a long time. While working at the dealership, I usually saw the coolant get changed during timing belt jobs or radiator replacements. The techs always checked the coolant levels on customer cars though.

Even a factory brake sensor wire is $139 (I know why bother get a $8 Raybestos--why? because there is no cheap aftermarket on some of the LS parts like an ABS sensor--that is pushing $400!).

500k if the car hasn't reached it by now (newest LS is 13 1/2 y.o. most are much older), time is the enemy, not mileage.
Totally agree, everyone thinks it is a $5 difference, but that is a huge % difference. I bought a two jugs extra Zerex when napa had them on sale last summer. I just thought I would keep them around to top off my radiator.

Yeah time is definitely the enemy. I had to let go my 95 Avalon because of time. The car still runs great, but at one point I have to consider the newer cars are safer (more and better airbags, safety features), better fuel economy, better extra options (back-up camera, parking assistance), and I think as we get older we appreciate more comfort - heated and cooled seats, nicer and with better support/ergonomically seats.

Not car related but it's been months since I bought milk in PA. Always grab it in DE or NJ. Last week I said hmmm....$2.60/gal., did it got up? (in DE) I was at the market yesterday in PA, $4.13/gal. And the supermarket had all these buy 2, get 1 free deals. HUH? Are people this easily fooled? Should be buy one, get one. AND, some of the coupons said min. $50 purchase, was $25 last I used any haha

I stock auto parts when I see a price drop. Yesterday, my wife's SUV/GM had OE rotors drop from $66 to $49, so I ordered 2. Even if I don't need them for a year or more, I got it at the price drop, just like with the Centrics for the LS430, $31 (last time was $27)....

I'm glad I found this thread. because I bought a gallon of Zerex recently when I sprung a leak and I ran out of my Toyota coolant.

It looked like a Dollar General version of the Toyota fluid- kinda like a cheaper pink watered down Koolaid lol and I was afraid it was junk but ya'll say it's pretty good so that's awesome.

I buy the non-diluted gallon size Toyota coolant on ebay and dilute it 50-50 with distilled water because I trust it but it's good to know I can use this if I need.
