Default In-cabin trunk button stopped working

A while back after bringing my '02 SC430 in for an oil change I discovered that the button inside the cabin for opening the trunk wasn't working. I figured it was unlikely that the shop did something that broke it, so I didn't bother asking them about it, and my car went into the mode of being undriven and stored in the garage for a while (for a few reasons), so I'm just now circling back to trying to troubleshoot this.

Is it possible that it's a fuse? That would probably be the extent of what my mechanical skills would allow for fixing it myself.

It's not the end of the world with it not working, but the button on the keyfob doesn't work when the car is running, so there are times when it's a pain, as I have to turn off the engine to then be able to use the keyfob to open it (my center console is filled with junk, so using the emergency pull-cable to open the trunk is not a desirable workaround).

So I assume the gas filler door button is working. So what about the valet button in the glove box. Has it been activated? When that button is active the passenger cabin trunk opening button is disabled.

Well, I'm clearly an idiot, because I just finished posting a "thank you" in another thread related to my convertible top not opening and then finding a post by someone talking about that button in the glove compartment. Indeed, that button was my issue and my top started working again. I didn't even think to try to check my trunk button again after that, before starting up a new thread here, but of course it makes perfect sense that the glove compartment button would disable the trunk button, too.

The question should be who keeps messing with it?

No, it just happened the one time, somewhere around the last time I got an oil change, and then I just never got around to researching/troubleshooting it, and just "lived with it" until I posted here today.

Lesson learned: when your top is not working or you can not open the trunk from trunk release button, check your valet switch.
