Default 2005 LS 430 Steering wheel phone button not working

The Phone button, and volume UP and Down buttons stopped working. I found out how to reset the volume buttons, via the MODE button, but the Phone button still does not work.
I can access the phone thru the Information Menu, but it does take more fiddling around than just a press of the button on the left hand side of the steering wheel.
Does anyone know how to reset this?
Thanks for any help.

Sounds like your clock spiral cable might off broke , check your volume up /down buttons for the radio and check that your horn works also

The horn works. Original problem was that the Volume up and down, and the phone button did not work. To fix the volume issue, I put the switch in ACC, pressed the Mode button for 10+ seconds, released the mode, and pressed the up button 3 times, and then the down button 3 times, turned switch to ON, then off. Since then the Volume control works, but the Phone still does not. Bluetooth connects, and the phone app will work via Option> Information> Telephone. But I don't want to mess with that while driving. I want my phone button back.

Hey Steve quad did you ever figure out the problem. I have the EXACT same issue with my 06 rx330.

I changed the battery and now have the Japanese screen of death. I tried tying the battery cables together. I even took out the dvd unit and disconnected the circuit board from the player. The disc is flawless with no scratches. I don’t know what the heck is going on.

Default Fixed

I wound up changing the Clock spiral cable, underneath the steering wheel. That fix it. Then I took apart the old cable, and looked for damage, but I really didn't spend much time looking, and tossed it out. Now all the buttons work fine.
In another thread, I talked about the Nav/DVD not working, and I bought another player, used on Ebay. That worked out well also.
Good luck.

oh wow, two separate problems?!

My truck worked flawlessly. I just changed the battery bc it was 3.5 years old and not holding a charge overnight. The battery was unplugged for 45 seconds while I swapped it out and now I have the Japanese screen of death and the phone buttons don’t work on the steering wheel. In my case, There’s no way that unplugging the battery caused the clock spring to break and the DVD player to fry.

stevequad,
id like to pm you directly to ask a few questions about your specific circumstances but it cannot message you. Would you be able to email me? Mig233@yahoo.com
