It can switch between regular spark and diesel-style compression ignition. Someone take one for the team and be an early adopter.
I read about this Skyactiv engine back in like 2012 or way before... that got 60mpg.. which we didn't get in the US in the Mazda3. We won't get good ICE MPG because of the NOx fixation. That's why we can't get lean burn here either. Honda had it in the Insight which got 70mpg back in 2000 but standards have changed a lot since then.

I might try starting there.
Use 100 % gasoline instead of gasahol.
Alcohol has lower BTU content and will decrease MPG somewhat...even at 10% concentration.
This explains why auto manufacturers use 100% gasoline when generating EPA mileage figures..and why your mileage will invariably vary.

I assume you have real life statistics and personal experience that support the 3uz-fe handling pure gas much better than with ethanol compound, or just making big claims again?

Perhaps you care to do some research?

The internet is your friend.

Perhaps you start there.

For everyone else;

Because EVERY tidbit of information on the internet is substantiated as true and accurate.. Especially a dotGOV site discussing fossil fuels...

Is 100% gasoline even available...? If so are you using it?

I wouldn't bother looking for it. It's not readily available in my city and if it was I bet it would be more than 3-4% more expensive. I stick to Costco gas as it's significantly cheaper than anything else around me.

There are different generations of the Skyactiv engine. The current one in the Mazda3 is Skyactiv-G and gets around 44mpg. The Mazda3 will probably get the NEW Skyactiv-X engine by the end of this year. I consider the Honda Insight to be in a different category since it's a hybrid and relies on a giant battery bank to achieve its 70 mpg. Battery banks can cost up to $5000 and typically need to be replaced after 8years/100,000 miles. unfortunately extreme cold will most likely negatively affect mpg in gas, hybrid, and all-electric vehicles.

Yes;

I have used it, but it is not readily available in metro areas.

It does iimprove MPG.

I have only had my 04 UL a few months and the gas mileage has been 18-19 MPG and less in town. I cleaned the MAF, Throttle body and a new air cleaner. I drove the car on I 90 about 60 miles on cruise control at 70 MPH and when I stopped, it was on 25.2GPH. The idle RPM before cleaning was about 850 RPM and after the 60 mile run, it now is about 750. Both the MAF and the TB were really dirty, black and the air cleaner was not too clean either. So, I am a believer for sure now. This forum has been a great help the short time I have been here. I have learned a tremendous amount about this Lexus that the user's manual does not cover. The more I learn, the less $ I will be giving to the Dealers.

The Insight used a piddly 6ah (4ah usable) 144v NiMH battery that was about the size of an LS430's spare tire. Yeah it wasn't cheap to replace but some folks did them for about $1200, others spent $2300 for new ones. Definitely the weak point of the car.

Some places offer it at the pump but it's 87 octane only, really meant only for lawn and watersports motors. I used it once in an 87 octane rated car and no it didn't help out at all, considering the $.40/gal extra price vs 87 octane E10

I wonder of all the folks chasing mpgs, how many are like I am now, where my car averages 14 mph and never gets on the highway? The way to improve mpgs is to drive as long as you can on the highway. Then you're going to see 28 mpg.

I'm right there with you. Super, stupid-short trips, low MPGs, but fillups are few and far in between!

actually copper plugs ignite the absolute best but they don’t last for crap

buying hyped up plugs is a scam because unless you’re upgrading the entire system to make a hotter spark you won’t accomplish anything no matter what the plug might be capable of. copper is simply more conductive so it doesn’t loose as much energy as platinum or iridium or this other one

it’s basic chemistry knowledge that pure gas gets you better mpg vs alcohol mixed. Also there have even been plenty experiments posted online showing this and numerous forum discussions as well... but finding it is hard now, the one place I’ve seen it only had 87 octane, store down the road used to have premium without but they stopped selling it

alcohol will also gum up carbs (for anyone with a bike or lawn mower with alcohol gas)

to restore mileage use top quality synthetic fluids and keep them fresh, keep tires aired up, have all filters new (air and fluid), use the highest octane gas (our engines are higher comp. and will make varous changes due to knock that end up lowering mpg and hp), and keep plugs and wires in new condition...and drive like a scared grandmother with an overfilled cup of boiling coffee between her legs. but again, this won’t increase only restore mpg
