Check the resistance of your VVT (Variable Valve Timing) sensors per the instructions below. If the resistance is out-of-range, replace the sensor. If the resistance is good, check your connectors and wires for damage.
I'd check the VVT solenoid for bank 1 first before removing the intake manifold as is introduced here below. It has higher possibility to fail and is easier to check.

The previous photo (with manifold removed) was for clarity. Here is another photo (with manifold in place) of where the Bank 1 VVT Sensor is located. Sorry for the confusion, but you do not have to remove the manifold to access it.
