Exhaust Y pipe options?
Yodaone- per the Magnaflow website : "As a market leader, MagnaFlow proudly manufactures products in the USA from our Oceanside, California facility . . . " Elsewhere they mention they use 409 grade SS for at least some of their products.
Hi All,
I’m at my wits end with my 2006 Lexus LS430. Over the course of last Summer I replaced two O2 sensors and then recently the catalytic converter. I kept getting a VSC error code and it evidently led to a leaky Y-pipe. Apparently they don’t make stock units anymore so my shop put on a Magnaflow Y-pipe. The error message is gone now, but the car sounds like a souped up Dodge Charger or Mustang Cobra. I just want my whisper quiet Lexus back. Any suggestions?

The Y pipe has no noise reduction in it except for the secondary CAT.
If the secondary CAT wasn't replaced it will get considerably louder.
OEM has primary and secondary CATs, then Resonators and finally mufflers.
All of these reduce the exhaust volume, so any change will affect it.
On mine the exhaust tech re-used the OEM secondary CAT but made a new Y-pipe section.

I installed my Davico Y pipe this weekend. Fits perfectly, no welding or bending, just used hand tools and a dremel for cutting bolts when needed. If you get it I strongly recommend getting the OEM front gaskets as they have a much smaller diameter than the ones that come with the pipe, and I can't imagine using those would work. Part number is 90917-A6003 and you'll need two. Also, there is a silver colored gasket that goes in the center pipe where the Y pipe connects, 17451-50020. My guess is anyone with fitment issues did not replace this gasket and therefore did not get a good seal. Finally, I used the 4 OEM flanged bolts 90105-10558 and nuts 90179-10128, and clamp 17452-50020 and clamp bolt 90119-08931. I'd recommend the nuts and bolts but any similar band style clamp would probably do. Hope this helps someone out.
I ended up taking down the entire exhaust and found some holes in the muffler tops. I patched them with muffler sealer and it's very quiet for now. The mufflers don't seem to do much, most of my noise was coming from the Y pipe, but if anyone has some good stock mufflers on hand I'd be interested.
