Question Where to obtain credit card key?

Greetings, i only have the normal thick smart key on my LS430, no physical spare or anything, i saw in the owners manual that there is in fact a credit card key, a physical common key, and two fobs, where do i get the credit card one tho? i don't see it on ebay nor amazon.

It sounds like it's a dealer item, if still available.

Mine appears to have never been used and is in sealed blue plastic.

Dealer only, if you have one nearby, or use this- https://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.c...979550010.html

I've been trying to determine for a while if that part, at ~$130, is the credit card as well as a flat metal key, or just the card. Are there buttons on this card, or is it just a proximity sensor and allows you to open/start the car?

From the owners manual-
A mechanical flat key and an engine start flat key are
included in the key case. Both flat keys are not equipped
with smart key system.
The mechanical flat key works in every lock, but cannot
be used to start the engine.
As a transponder chip is built in the engine start flat key,
you can start the engine only with this key.
A transponder chip for the engine immobilizer system has
been placed in the engine start flat key. This chip is required
for the system to function correctly, so be careful not to lose this
key. If you make your own duplicate key, you will not be able
to cancel the system or start the engine.
Insert your flat key plates in its key case as shown. We
recommend that you always carry this with you for emergency
use. Do not leave it in your vehicle.

Thanks for that info. I guess I misunderstood it the entire time - I thought the credit card key would actually be able to replace the regular fob and allow me to get into the car, start it and drive away.

imho that credit card key is a bad idea. Humans are creatures of habit. Aren't we used to the idea that we need a key (or fob today) to drive? Don't we respect this notion when we rent cars? Because usually when I rent a car, it has a smart key today, and they have both fobs secured to one another, so in a way a PITA to put 2 fobs in one's pocket. But as such, we don't lose it. I think the odds are greater to lose one's wallet, than to ever have any use for a credit card key. my .02

I'm not saying to not have a spare, just that that's not the right spare and imho it was ill conceived...

Just another little surprise thrown in the car from Lexus. Gives you something other cars don't likely have, and if you can use it so much the better. If you can't use, just throw it away. Either way, you haven't lost anything by it being included.

How many people actually have theirs? I have mine, but I've never used it.

Ditto. Have never used it. But, I have found that when traveling, it is smart to have another person have the second key in case your key is lost/stolen. The credit card key would serve for that purpose. It's also smart to have two credit cards with one in the wallet and the other in your pocket!
